In short supply these days is Peace. As the stock Market plummets in the US, the cost of living rises and even food is not so cheap. Incomes remain fixed amidst these increases such that families are suffering. Looking worldwide, there was a cyclone in Myanmar on May the 3rd and China suffered a crippling earthquake May the 12th. The death toll, the displaced families, the missing, in the hundreds of thousands. One is afraid to turn on the news these days. When the future seems bleak and hope lies in inanition, in these times peace needs life-support to stay alive. The reason being that one has almost nothing to look forward to save more dread, more bad news. Questions everyone is thinking (but not necessarily asking) is what will happen next? and How will it affect me?
One is reminded of those dark days after black Tuesday when the stock markets crashed and the 2nd World War was imminent , yes... the great depression. Then, as it is now hope died and peace soon followed suit.
As Christians are we really without Peace? Arent we the light of this world and the salt of the earth? Arent we supposed to show the way? When people are saying there is a casting down arent we supposed to be saying there is a lifting up? Isnt this the best time to show people who our God is? With the calmness in our stride and the confidence in our speech; because we know that no matter what happens next He will keep us in the palm of His hand. Yet it seems as though we are the most worried of all?
Many men of God have tried to propose how Jesus was able to sleep through a storm; I am not even going to try and echo their theology, what I pray for is for that type of peace. I have never been in a storm at sea, but I can imagine, when the very ground you are standing on is wobbling, the winds constantly threatening to capsize your only haven. Just as you are trying to come to terms with all the mayhem around, the roar of thunder shudders your already embattled equilibrium and as you try to find your composure; lightning shatters a tree on the horizon reminding you that even your purposed destination might not be any safer! This is just an illustration, I know but isnt that what it feels like right now as the pressures of world economics and events tug and pull at us, at our anxieties and at our check books?
There is a storm brewing. It has been brewing subliminally in the spirit realm for a while and now its about to break forth into the natural. It is for this storm we need a special kind of peace, the kind that enabled Jesus to sleep, unperturbed as it were through a tempest.
What if? Just what if this was available to us. The peace of the divine trapped in the hearts of the frail, the mortal. Think what we could do with it, as bills and their deadlines approach and you dont have any money or any plan you can remain calm. As you watch on the news and read on the internet the devastation happening all around the world, you can watch with compassion but not fear. when the price of gas hits record highs or the price of food sky-rockets ; you can honestly look inside your heart and find a peace.hmmm....I wonder. What we will be able to accomplish with that type of peace emanating from our countenance, with our co-workers? with our friends? in our children? Our parents?.....ourselves
I will let you in on a secret. We ALREADY have Jesus peace! Look at John 14 vs 27
I AM LEAVING YOU A GIFT -PEACE OF MIND AND HEART. AND THE PEACE I GIVE ISNT LIKE THE PEACE THE WORLD GIVES. SO DONT BE TROUBLED OR AFRAID. ( New Living Translation)
PEACE I LEAVE WITH YOU; MY PEACE I GIVE TO YOU; NOT AS THE WORLD GIVES DO I GIVE TO YOU. DO NOT LET YOUR HEART BE TROUBLED NOR LET IT BE FEARFUL. (New American Standard)
What are you doing with your Peace?

I enjoyed reading this piece on peace, a couple of times. The analogy of how Jesus slept through the storm was helpful for me. I have been at sea during many storms; I have seen how keeping my cool did more for my family than anything else I could do. Thanks for the reminder that God keeps us in the palm of His hand. We are there whether we dwell on that or not; better to live like we know it. Your encouraging words motivate us to share the peace, given to us by Jesus, with those around us. Thanks!

Thanks for that it make you realize that in this world the only true peace you can get is thru Christ Jesus. My wife lost her job and thing have been hard but i asked the Lord for strength to guide our family and with his grace we have been blessed with peace in our home.
God bless,
