The Greatest of these

Posted by mrspiggy on 2/19/2008 1:44:32 PM  - Print This  - Email This

I grew up in the Lutheran Church. Went to a Catholic College for undergratuate work (with 12 hours required in theology) and a Catholic university for graduate work. So, I've always been exposed to God and religion. It was during my last year in grad school that I met Jesus and the Holy Spirit. That was over ten years ago and is not what my testimony is concerning. This is just background.

In November 2006, I suffered a brain attack. I spent many weeks in the hospital and once released, went through months of rehab learning to walk again. Because the Lord was with me, I did not go into a coma or lose any memory all. I returned to work full time in five months. Because of my left-side weakness. I had to learn to type with one hand. (I'm pretty good at it) I refused to have a pity party and went about life just fine. I attended church sporatically. I was upset with God that I was not able to function as before in my body. I walk with a limp.

In October 2007, I passed out while working on one of the many trips I took for my job. During the time I was "out" I spent time with God. I know this because I awoke very well rested. Then on 12/31/07, I was laid off the job.

My husband went to work in the morning and I read my Bible and got on the internet. I understood that God was calling me into alone time for a reason. At first, I read my Bible and looked up stuff at biblegateway.com. I was starting to have problems in my marriage and was seeking God. I wanted God to show me what love looked like. He led me to 1st Corinthians, chapter 13. I read it over and over, day and night. Then one morning during prayer, these words came into my spirit, "Give and it shall be given unto you". I went to the library and got every thing I could find on love. Next, I went to the bookstore and bought a couple of books. One day, while looking up a passage on the internet, I suddenly found myself on this website. I began reading prayer request and my heart went out to the people who had posted requests. I began to pray for them. I read discussions and offered my thoughts on the subjects. I then read testimonies and was reminded, they overcame by the Blood of the Lamb and the words of their testimonies. So, this is my testimony. I asked God to show me what love looked like and He is so faithful. He said you will find me when you seek me with all your heart. I found His love right here at this website. I see the love of trust when people post a prayer request. And I see patient, selfless love when the request are answered by others. My thanks to all who visit this website, for in you, I have seen God's love. You have been the answer to my prayer.

Sorry, this is so long. But I have a scripture I subscribe to that reads: Do all that is in your heart. I had to write it all.

Dear Mrs Piggy,
The glory of God is on display in your testimonial and in the way you lovingly supply rich words of encouragement and faith to us throughout this website. I also enjoy your surprises and humor; they are blessings too. I am deeply appreciative of your practice of keeping love as the foundation of your posts - now I have a better idea of why and how you do this.
Thanks!

Amen.
Isn't it surprising what we find when we are seeking out God.
Just like it is better to give then to receive. How faithful our Lord Jesus is!!!
I am constantly amazed by Him and how His master plan is so meticulous.

It is wonderfull to experience GOD's love , it is never ending and even when we pass on to the next life in heaven we will still be experiencing HIS love. He never leaves and let us go He is always there in our minds , hearts and souls. Feels great to be a child of GOD !

Thanking for sharing your testimony... it is the most powerful way of communicating God's love, grace, mercy and purposeful interaction with us! It has encouraged me... and I pray he continues to encourage you as you seek to encourage others (much encouragement going around is usually a good thing).

I have a friend who was in a car accident, beside losing her fiance and her brother... she lost complete use of her left arm, and only has 60 use of her left leg... yet she is the most inspiring woman, also due to the fact that she never complains about life (she has now gone on to win 2 olympic gold medals for horse-riding in the paralympics last year - for a South African thats amazing!!). I pray that God continues to use you for many wonderful and inspiring things.... it is obvious you are genuine in your passion for others and our King!

God bless you!
