Welcome the Delve Into Jesus, and thank you so much for your question.
The simplest answer I can give you is that Jesus Christ was the Son of God, and He came to earth as a man 2,000 years ago and died as a sacrifice in order to rescue us from our lives of sin and death. Those who believe in Him are saved from eternal death and will live with Him in Heaven when they die.
I realized this is a VERY simple overview, however there are many, many articles on this website which can help you learn more. Here are two that are a good place to start:
