My friends Son keeps asking "if Jesus rose from the dead, why can't my Grandad?" how do you answer that? I am a Christian and am still wrestling with how to help her to answer her Son's question (they are not Christians)

Welcome to the site, and thanks so much for your question.
I think there are a number of different ways to tackle this. The first thing that comes to mind is to simply say that Grandad did rise from the dead, simply not in bodily form. He has risen again in Heaven. Jesus also went to Heaven when he died, He just took a short diversion physically on earth so that everyone would know that He was not dead. For me, this seems like the most solid answer. I can't say whether or not it will satisfy Him (how old is the son?) but it's certainly true enough. (I wouldn't get into the issue of whether or not Grandad is even in Heaven - only Jesus knows and I see no benefit whatsoever from even mentioning the possibility that he is not to someone so young)
The other option that comes to mind is to explain that Jesus was very, very different from any other man. As the Son of God, He had a special mission that others don't have when they die.... and go on to explain about why His resurrection was so important.
I really hope this helps, please let us know how it goes and if there is anything else we can do to help.
