Hello,
I live w/ my in-law's. I am the only one working. My husband is on Workers Comp. My Father-in-law has been out of work for 2 years (last August). My mother-in-law watches my 2 year old, and has been a stay-at-home mom for years.
My husband was getting a part of his salary, but now that has been taken away, b/c he arrived late to one of his appointments. We don't know when his pay checks will kick in again, at this point. As of today, I am the only one earning income.
I give 98 of my check to my In-law's to help with bills, groceries, etc. Now that the WC checks stopped, my husband and I are really struggling to make ends meet. We want to help my in-law's, but if we do, and no more WC checks, then we will not have enough for our bills that we handle with the 2-3 hundred we get every 2-3 weeks. We have car payment, warranty for the car, and car insurance that we pay with the little money we have left over.
On top of all of this, my in-law's undermine my authority with my 2 year old. They always have opinions. Everything that I do with her is wrong, in their eyes. I can't even raise my child the way I want to.
Now I feel that I should try to get a second job. My husband doesn't want me to, but I don't think we can make it with my check alone. I make about 750 every 2 weeks (b/c of taxes and benefit deductions). I don't know what to do. I have prayed about it. I have been waiting for any answer to help me. I don't know if finding a second job is something God is telling me to do, or if it is just my eagerness to get out of the situation I'm in. My husband is going to talk to his dad about getting a job, but he doesn't know when he will have the momentum to do so. He is afraid of the outcome. He doesn't want his relationship to be ruined. I'm trying to be paitent. I just don't know if I should continue to wait and hope everything turns out alright, or if I should put my foot forward and find a second job to help out more.
My co-workers suggested I call out help hotline, provided by our company, to get an opinion from someone that I don't know. I figure you don't know me, so it won't hurt to ask you. I feel more comfortable on here than calling someone.
Your advise will be appreciated and taken into consideration.

Prov19,
I understand your question is whether or not to get a second job, right? I don't know if you should or not. I do know that God is faithful to His word. Perhaps you could explain to your inlaws that you need to reduce the amount you are giving them as your income has been reduced since your husband is not receiving his check. Or maybe your husband should talk to them.
Andrew Womack just said you cannot get a harvest without planting a seed. I believe that because it lines up with the Word of God. So, I'm going to give you a seed to plant in your heart that you may receive the harvest. Your seed is in Philippians 4:19, "And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus."
Plant this in your heart and water it with Faith and thanksgiving. We have to pray God's Word. For God watches over His word to perform it. His word will not return to Him void. If He spoke it, He will bring it to pass.

mrspiggy,
Thank you for your reply. You are right, I need to know if I should get a second job or not. Your answer is the same as my friends and co-workers. They said I should reduce the amount we are giving them. I believe God answers us through other people at times. :)
Thanks again for your help.

Hi Prov19,
You mentioned that your Husband was on Workers Comp.
Is he still unable to work?
Is there a reason for your Father-In-Law not to work?
The Bible says:
"If a man will not work, he shall not eat."
2 Thessalonians 3:10b
(The Bible Gives A Warning Against Idleness)
"In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from every brother who is idle and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone's food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to make ourselves a model for you to follow. For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat."
We hear that some among you are idle. They are not busy; they are busybodies. Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the bread they eat. And as for you, brothers, never tire of doing what is right.
If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of him. Do not associate with him, in order that he may feel ashamed. Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother."
2 Thessalonians 3:6-15
Prov19,
I pray that the men in the house that are able, will desire to find work.
(With God all things are possible!)
God bless you Prov19, for all you are doing!)

I appreciate all the wonderful words. Everything is fine now. My father-in-law got a job. My prayers were answered.
Thank you, everyone.
