Christians And The Bible

Hey!

You know, I just happened to be browsing a Christian's profile (not here) and he said a statement I'd like your input on:

"Not all Christians believe the Bible 100"

What do you think about this?

Comments

Sorry, that statement meant one hundred percent.

Hello Alison. Sorry about the percent symbol. That particular symbol can be dangerous in web sites since it is one of the ways hackers can do some malicious things, so we always strip it out of anything that gets posted. Sorry for the inconvenience.

It's absolutely true that many people believe that statement. I do not believe it (and no one affiliated with our ministry does) but there are certainly lots of people who worship Jesus Christ as Lord yet also accept that the Bible contains errors.

I've written an article on this subject here on the site, the title is "Is the Bible Infallible? Is it all Literal?"

As I state in the article, I think it's very dangerous to think there could be any errors of any kind in the Bible. Where do you draw the line? Can you overlook any parts of Paul's letters you don't like if you think Paul might have erred? Lots of people do. Can you even go so far as to ignore something Jesus said if you think the Gospel writers got it wrong? Again, some people do. As I said, I think this is very dangerous and leads to a "pick-what-you-like" mentality that waters down Christianity and makes it so much less than it really is. A Christian faith based on the complete truth of the Bible might be more challenging, but it is real!

I hope this helps. God Bless.

You would be saddened to know how prevalent this point of view is, especially at colleges, universities and even seminaries. So, it's not bad enough that academics at institutions that were once fundamental and evangelical are believing this, that it what they are teaching our kids -- our future pastors and missionaries.
