I'll try to answer your question as thoroughly as I can. Please forgive me if I've missed the point of your question, or if I explain something you already knew. "Christian" is the term given to followers of Jesus Christ, or those who believe He was the Son of God. "Christ" itself is a title, and is the Greek translation of the Hebrew word, "Messiah". Finally, "Messiah" means "anointed one" and is the title given to the person whom the Jews were expecting God to send to save them and rule over them, and Jesus was that person. I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any other questions - we're more than happy to help.

It originally was considered a profound name given to those that followed Christ during his word to Calvary.
The name was given to identify the "Christ like or Christ following people" We turned it around and stood proud to be identified as being Christ Like. "Christians"
