1. What is the literal meaning of "Spirit", "Holy Spirit", and Evil Spirit?
2. Explain in details the difference between Body, Spirit and Soul.
3. The Bible says; Jesus descended into Hell to preach to those who were there before ascension to heaven. What is the purpose of preaching to those already in Hell? Do they still have a chance to repent and go to heaven as the bible already made it clear that death is followed by judgement except those who have crossed from death to life; i.e. those who believe.

Let me quickly address your second point. There is on ongoing debate in theology to this day about the difference between "spirit" and "soul". Some feel there is a subtle difference, but most people, myself included, believe there is no distinction. The words are synonymous and may be used interchangeably. The body, of course, is simply our earthly vessel, and it is our soul or spirit which is "alive" and will continue on after our earthly death. I'll see what I can do about your first and third questions after I return this weekend.

"Spirit" refers to the eternal part of any being - the part that we cannot experience with our senses. Often, as arsindelve said above, it just means our soul. In certain contexts, it can refer to the "Holy Spirit", which is God Himself (or to be specific, one of the three persons of God). An evil spirit most often means a demon, but sometimes (such as 1 Samuel when God sends Saul an evil spirit) it means, in the original Hebrew, "a bad mood".

As for the third part: There were 400 years between the Old Testament and the New. Many people died not knowing of Jesus and salvation thru Him. I believe that Jesus went to preach to these dead people to give them the same opportunity that we have to accept Him and be saved. Now, I believe they rest in peace until judgment day. Then, the ded in Christ shall rise and we who are living shall be caught up, transformed and be seated with Christ in heaven.
