During when Jesus was born.
Did King Harod lived little far from East of Jerusalem or in the center of Jerusalem ?
Thank You ,
Charlie

So far, the best I've been able to come up with is that he was buried about 12 KM south of Jerusalem, but this gives no firm indication of where he lived at the time of his death, nor at the time Jesus was born a few years earlier. . I'll keep researching. Just out of curiosity, may I ask what prompted this question? Does this relate to some prophecy or apparent contradiction in the Bible?

Here is some biblical evidence I have been able to come up with: Matthew 2:1, 2 says "Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him." King Herod the Great maintained a palace and administrative center called Herodium which was eight miles south of Jerusalem and three miles south-east of Bethlehem. This is also where he was buried. However, it seems clear from Matthew's account that he was in Jerusalem when the Magi found him, only days after Jesus' birth. From what I have been able to gather, he spent time in Herodium (some scholars have likened it to a summer home) but his permanent residence was in Jerusalem. Either way, it would have been unsettling to Herod to have a threat to his reign born so close to his palace near Bethlehem.
