End of the world

Do you think that the end of the world is within this generation and do you think it is wrong for people to have children if they are only going to suffer at the end of the world war?

Since the first century, people have predicted the end of the world would happen within their lifetime. With each new century and each new millennium, people have been certain the end-times are just around the corner. So, on the surface it would seem naive to think that we are somehow different than all the generations which preceded. But you know what? I think this generation is truly different from those in the past that there is good reason to think we might see the end-times. Perhaps we will be thought foolish in 500 years, but if so, we have some strong evidence and good reasons for thinking so. We are a more secular and self-centered culture than any the world has ever known. Scientists say that we've simply matured and don't need God anymore, but that's exactly my point. We are a society that has completely abandoned God. Sure, there are still religious people, but our country and our culture as a whole do not even pretend to be religious any more. You might say they are anti-God at this point. It's hard to believe that God will tolerate the world ignoring or oppressing Him for much longer, so if the end-times happen tomorrow, I will not be surprised at all.

I think it might be selfish to have kids. My gf wanted some you know if we'd gotten married but I told her that it would be selfish if we were bringing them into a world of chaos, you know?

Having children is not selfish so long as your motives for having children are not self-serving. Raising children to know the Lord is one of the most important roles a parent can have.
