I think you've answered your own question. If you've read much of what Tom and I have written on this site, you'll know we're both big believers in free-will. I think free-will is one of the most powerful ways that God demonstrates his love. You know the old saying "If you love it, set it free?" I think God has really done that. For that reason, God rarely interferes in our day-to-day life unless we seek Him in prayer (which evil people do no do). He will allow bad people to do bad things and hurt others, and he will sometimes let evil go unpunished because those people have to be allowed their total, unrestricted freedom. It is because they were free to do as they wanted that are one hundred percent accountable for all their actions. They can blame no-one else, and God will certainly have His justice on the last day. Those who did evil will certainly be punished, for they have no excuse, and those who did good will get their reward. Sometimes when I am in the midst of struggle and pain, I think it's unfair and I wish God would help, but then I think, "do I want my reward now, or when I get to Heaven?" I want it in Heaven - it will be so much greater - so I can endure what I must on this earth until then.

I don't buy it. You can't say the grass is green, the sky is blue, babies are born - thank Jesus. But then when something bad happens feel that he isn't responsible for it. Sorry even he can't have his cake & eat it too.

Thanks very much for your comment, and thanks for visiting the site today. I hope I can help with this answer.
The vast majority of suffering on this planet is caused by one person doing something nasty to someone else. Why should God be responsible for that? The only responsibility you can assign to God for this is that He created us, and some will argue that He should not have created us with the ability to harm others. But then we are robots.....
It is simply a fact that everything good and beautiful in this universe comes from God, and everything painful and brutal is, in one way or another, man's fault.
