Welcome Mike, and thanks for your question. I don't think I can definitively answer your question, but I would like to share my thoughts. Music is extremely powerful for me, especially in worship. One of the biggest problems I have is calming my mind, emptying it of distracting thoughts and focusing on God. Nothing helps me more than music to get to a place of calm and peace so I can concentrate on worship. Without it, I often find my mind wandering and thinking about other things like work.
For me, it's not about the Lord being present, for He is always present. It's about breaking down the barriers which prevent me from feeling His presence - concentrating on Him.
So, to answer your question, what music does is bring me to a place of peace, and that peace helps me to worship more faithfully. I don't know if the peace comes from the music, or if the peace comes from the presence of God through the music, but either way it's a very good and important element of worship, for me anyway. I would tend to say that whatever draws you closer to the heart of God, regardless of how it works, is a good thing. If, in some strange way, having a shower or eating food made someone feel close to God, then I would say for them to go for it.
I hope this helps! God bless.

These verses comes to my mind when I read your question.
(I believe that we can do this through Praise/Worship Music!)
"Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms."
Psalm 95:2
"Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, And into his courts with praise: Give thanks unto him, and bless his name."
Psalm 100:4
