New Member...Old Discussion

Hi. I was looking for discussions about hearing God's voice and your forum came up. This subject was an old thread for you so I decided to post a new thread.

Me, my husband and my teenage daughter have all heard God's audible voice. My daughter has only heard it once, but my husband and I have heard and seen much more. We were given a truly incredible revelation.

God in His infinite wisdom has encoded within the book of Revelation an Ancient Path that leads us back to Him.

Peace to you all.

Amy

Hi Betti and welcome to the site. Thanks very much for your comments. I hope you don't mind too much, but I've removed the link from your post - we try to discourage people from posting links because if they do, we need to visit the page and make sure the content is sound. Thanks for your understanding. Thanks again, and welcome.

Hi Betti,
Thank you for sharing!
Do you find that the Lord gives the same message to other Christians as He gives to you? (He may speak to people in different ways, but the message is the same.) I see this happening more and more!
(I have wondered if He speaks to all Christians, yet only some are listening...)
Ignited~Faith- 3/31/2008 10:17:22 PM

While I have never heard God's audible voice, my attention was recently drawn to this subject while I was reading a book called "Having a Mary Spirit" by Joanna Weaver.

There is an article in the book concerning hearing God and His will in our lives - and one of the points of this article is that God is like a loving mother - lovingly reminding us of things... so that when we come across the same message repeatedly while studying His word, reading inspirational books, in conversations with others, etc. that it is actually God guiding us and talking to us. I drew great inspiration from this, as it actually has happened a lot recently - but before, I never realized that it must have been God talking to me and communicating with me. I say this in answer to your thought, Ignited... I believe God does talk to all Christians, but only some are listening. I know I never thought about His voice until I came across this passage in the book - so I never really understood how to listen for God's voice in my own life, since it wasn't audible as it was for Amy. As for God giving the same message to other Christians as He does for me - I'm not too sure... I think God gives us what we need, and since our needs are all different, maybe the message is different according to our needs. ??? Just food for discussion and thought. :)
txhoneydarlin- 4/5/2008 1:48:36 PM

Hi again.
I only have three journeys to compare. Mine, my daughters and my husbands. Each one was very different. Tailored to what each of us needed. It reminds me of an old saying. "When the student is ready to learn, the teacher will appear." Not only does He provide WHAT we need but exactly WHEN we need it.
I asked the question, "Do we all have this connection?" Jesus said that everyone HAS the connection but most don't UNDERSTAND it. We must be wide open to the experience.
It sounds like I'm not the only one who is searching for truth :)

Just wanted to tell you what a cool forum this is. Glad I found you!

BettiCrayons- 4/5/2008 2:58:28 PM

Amy,

I am very happy to know that you and your family have heard God speak. And that you know all of His children have the ability to hear His voice, if they listen. Thank you for sharing.

Also, you didn't "find" this forum, you were led here. Praise God!!
mrspiggy- 4/5/2008 9:38:01 PM

I stand corrected! Yes, I must surely have been led here!!!

Good Sunday Morning to you all! It was awesomly wonderful to wake up to the voice of fellow Christians on this Lord's Sabbath. I will remind you all what God has reminded me: We are one day closer to Paradise!!

I was particularly inspired by the post from 'IgnitedFaith' about "praise and rejoice". I think I will follow in your footsteps today. Thank you so much!!!!

I got permission from my daughter to share a piece of her journey with you. I actually wrote it in answer to another question so please pardon any personal references to DJ. (He is a very learned man and I will encourage him to stop in and check us out)

You have probably noticed my childlike approach to interpreting the scriptures. My grandfather was a baptist minister. He baptized people in a river in WVA. When I was reading about the Marriage Feast of the Lamb I actually envisioned what I would wear. It wasn't until later that I recognized the humor in that laugh.gif

I, like you, do not wish to deceive. I never "saw" Jesus, I only heard Him. I have had a couple of quick "glimpses" of things, but never Jesus.

When I was in the bridal chamber I remember looking around feverishly and asking in my head, "Why can't I see? why can't I see?" Jesus voice answered. "Blessed is he who believes without seeing."

I did get one brief vision that day. At the very end I saw a vision of what I think might be "home" but I'm not sure. what I remember most clearly was not the vision, but the feeling of being draw into it as if being pulled into a vortex. THAT I can't forget!

My husband gets visions, and clear ones too. He usually has a vision at the same time I receive a message. For example, the day I was told to forgive my attacker. I was alone. Pat was in another part of the house. God said "You have to forgive Mark now. He was abused too." A couple of minutes later my husband walked in and said, "Amy, why do you have a picture of Mark on your desk?" I said "I don't." And he started to argue that he had seen it. In that instant I knew. and I said, "Wait a minute. was it in a manilla envelope?" and he said "Yes". I said "Was he really young, with a crew cut, a orange and yellow plaid shirt and a scar on his temple?" Pat said, "Yes." That picture doesn't exist. To this very day he has never been able to find it because it isn't here!!!! Was that a vision? For Pat it was. For me, it was just knowing. I can't explain it, but it happens.
I believe that Jesus reserves His voice for times when He really needs to get our attention. I don't hear His audible voice much anymore because I am so tuned in to the still small one. I can hear Him when He whispers wink.gif I believe that God is gathering His army. And He's not going to send us out into the field without a finely tuned communication system.

Each person's journey is unique. I'll never forget the day that my daughter pounded her little fist on her knee and said, "I wanna know what you guys know!" It wasn't long before Jesus took action. Pat got the first message. Jesus told him that she was a little too young for the "cell phone" but that He would give her messages in a different way.

She has a fascination with UFOs so that was her first question. I got the answer (sort of) instantaneously. I opened my KJV and the answer popped off the page. It was Isaiah where the aliens devour our land. We've never actually interpreted it yet but it was satisfactory to her.

Her first prayer was about a puppy. Her and Pat were going puppy shopping and I had been talking to her about careful selection and taking her time in choosing the right one. While they were gone I worked on the book. I was typing something totally unrelated when I felt His hand on my shoulder and He said, "You did good. You taught Ashley to pray." I felt really warm. There is no greater feeling than to be told by God that you did a good job.

It was several hours before Pat and Ashley came home; bringing with them the cutest little chihuahua puppy we had ever seen. Weighting in at a whopping 1.7 lbs., Little Josie.

Ashley proceeded to tell me how she had gone upstairs and prayed before they left. She had asked God to please help her find her puppy THAT DAY.

Josie stole our hearts like no other dog we had ever known. She was perfect. We called her our prayer puppy. She even went to my mother-in-law's church on Christmas eve. When the choir sang, Josie sang. The preacher was very open to "preaching to all God's creatures" and even allowed her to come back on Sunday morning. My daughter loves that church.

Little Josie wasn't with us for as long as we would have wished. She graced our lives for about a year. I was working in the basement one night. My hubby opened the door and Josie ran out between his feet. She ran into the street and was hit by a speeding car. The guy got out of the car and said, "Where's the leash?" My husband told him not to step onto our property and he left. I was hysterical. Thankfully Ashley wasn't home and there was no blood. Not one single drop.

God was mad at me that night. He told me that we are supposed to sacrifice with joy. And if I was acting like that now, what would I do when things really get rough?

I straightened myself out before Ashley got home. She was devastated. We buried Little Josie under a tree and planted miniature roses in her memory.

I told her that God must have needed Little Josie for something pretty important. And I reminded her that even though she never really knew Gram (my precious Grammy) that she did know her because I had kept her alive in our hearts.

Three days later 30 of our young people were killed on campus at Virginia Tech. My mind has somehow connected these events.

It was quite a while before we could go puppy shopping again. My daughter was getting quite mature. She had asked me for a bible. One like my big red one so she could look things up. I was honored to give her the one that she asked for.

One day, out of the blue, she said something about never being able to replace Little Josie. I told her to go back to where little Josie came from and she went back to the alter. This time she got a message. Chocolate brown with floppy ears. I got one too. Jesus heals on Sunday. We found Little Brutus on Saturday. He was on a farm on the Eastern shore. We were all really hesitant but he was chocolate brown with floppy ears. I gave Pat a nod and he paid for Brutus. I'll never forget driving away feeling like a pack of traitors.

By Sunday those feelings were being replaced by laughs and smiles. Ashley kept some of Josie's most special toys and shared the rest with Brutus. Brutus is a farm boy. He is messy and boisterous and we love him. He's the biggest chihuahua ever! 10 lbs of boy. He likes to suck on your ears. Yuk! Basically, Brutus rules.

And then it happened. Me and Ash were getting in the car one day. She was nearing her 15th birthday. And she said,"I heard it. I heard the voice. I stopped in my tracks to hear her. She said it was calm and soothing and she held up her finger and said it was in one ear. I asked which ear and much to my satisfaction she pointed to her right. You see, that was a detail that I had always intentionally withheld. A double blind if you will. Jesus has always spoken in my right ear and in only in my right ear.
I can die happy now, knowing my daughter has the Light. As if I ever doubted.

She helps her little friends without even realizing it. It's the coolest thing. The same thing that allowed Quantum physics to advance (the dieing off of Einsteinian s) is happening with Gnosticism (the death of doctrine). My daughter has no need to seek true religion because she never knew a false one.

These are the fruits of my labor. Some might see them as meager, but I regard them as gold.

I have a little family who worships truly and believes with all our hearts and souls. We have no need to go to "church". We ARE a church. And God loves us.

Friend, you are well on your way spiritually. You certainly don't need ANY advice from ME!!!! God told me that if we walk in the truth we will always hear His voice. You could try pounding your fist on your knee and saying, "I want to know what Ashley knows!" laugh.gif

As far as timing God's is perfect. I'm really good at accepting His timing. My husband, however, is not.

You're not planning on going anywhere, are you?

Puppy update: A couple of days ago, Pat and Ash came home with 1lb. Roxy. She is living proof that one need not be large to be in charge. I keep calling her Josie. My parrots can't seem to break the habit either. I can't help wondering how many of these little blessings I'm going to have to clean up after

Have a Great Day!

Amy

BettiCrayons- 4/6/2008 8:32:33 AM

I agree that God speaks to us in many different ways. 3+ years ago when my husband was terminally ill, I started finding pamphlets & devotionals in odd places and the one at the hospital, when I enquired, they told me I could take it because they didn't allow them as they may offend another religion.
It was Whisper of the Spirit and he explained how to enter the presence of God and to communicate with Him.
I read it and decided I would try it.
I heard a loud voice tell me to 'Open the door'. At the time I didn't know what this meant but now I know it means to pray without ceasing.

A couple of months ago, while I was bible studying early in the morning, He started speaking to me just like I would have a conversation with another person and it was a conversation. This happened for a few days.
After that it was a quiet, barely audible voice and now it is as a voice inside my head.
He told me of how long He has had His eye on me, the reason I went through some things, how He was with me through my trials and His plans for me.

I have learned to be careful as Satan mimics God and so as not to be led astray, I question whom it is I am hearing. One does have to be careful but God will let you know if it wasn't He or you will know depending on the situation.
He also communicates with me through dreams and visions some which are readily discernible and others revealed through the bible or come to me as time passes.
shurdell- 4/22/2008 10:23:43 AM

shurdell,
First I want to tell you that I'm very sorry to hear about your husband. That must have been very difficult for you.
I am really glad to hear your story though. I think I can lend some insight. I'm not allowed to give you my link, but I'll give you my email.
BettiCrayons@comcast.net
BettiCrayons- 4/22/2008 1:44:58 PM

Shurdell,

You did the right thing to ask God if it was Him speaking to you. I learned that when we hear a voice speaking to us, we can ask who it is in the name of Jesus and if it is an unholy spirit, it is compelled to identify itself in Jesus name.
mrspiggy- 4/22/2008 1:56:04 PM

SHEEP KNOW THE VOICE OF THEIR SHEPHERD AND GO TOWARDS IT.
We've been following His voice for 5yrs. and never once did any of us have to question who it was.
BettiCrayons- 4/22/2008 2:45:20 PM

Oh, and one other thing. There are blessings for those who read Revelation aloud. Try it. It's also an amazing chance to read the Bible to some kids :)
BettiCrayons- 4/22/2008 2:55:56 PM

Betti Crayons,

You are an exceptionally gifted woman. Others on this website are not at the same level. Please bear with me on this.

In Mark 5:9, "Then Jesus asked him, "What is your name?" I don't think for one moment that this was written to cause us to believe that Jesus didn't know the name of the evil spirit. I believe it was written for us to know that evil spirits talked to Jesus, so they will talk to us.
And Jesus' question was to let us know that we should call them out by name. This is the way I was taught and I've been following His voice for a while.

No disrepect intended. Line upon line, Precept upon precept.
mrspiggy- 4/22/2008 5:38:48 PM

Mrs. Piggy, No disrespect intended from me either.
And I assure you, I am in NO WAY extraordinary.
Magic is happening all around you. Only YOU can open the door.

Jesus asked a rhetorical question of satan whom He already knew. I did not feel it necessary to ask of Him whom I already knew.

Trust me when I say, when you hear it, and you will, you will not doubt that it is He who has spoken.

We have entered into a new "phase" so to speak. We have a new freedom in speaking to Jesus. This is called the Marriage Feast of the Lamb and blessed is he who is invited.

You are obviously being called.

It's time I told you exactly what has happened. Remember when I joined your forum and you reminded me that I had been led here?
A couple of weeks ago I unsubscribed. I know that my unsub was successful; I had heard not a peep from your list for a couple of weeks.

Today at about 1:00 or 1:30, my Teacher (that's what He is to me) told me to look in my inbox. Bing! There you are, totally out of the blue. I was most excited to hear shurells' testimony. So I started to reregister so I could share her excitement. These testimonies are music to my ears!

A box popped up that said I was already registered. I KNOW it was none other than the hand of God that reversed my actions. He brought me back to YOU once more:)

My daughter is 16 - heard it.
My husband is 50 - heard it
I am 45 - It's my lifeline!
Today, a 22 year old friend of my daughter's came to my house to tell me he had heard it!!!
shurell - she's heard it and obviously embraced it!!!!
I'm sure none of us would call ourselves extraordinary. Gifted yes, special no.

God is gathering his army and He is not sending us out into the field without a finely tuned communication system! He wants us to be so close to Him that we can hear Him when He whispers.

I hope and pray that your very next thought is, "I want to hear it, too!"

Much love and respect,
Amy (Betti is my alter ego, LOL)

BettiCrayons- 4/23/2008 12:47:19 AM

I converse with God daily. I know His voice. It was He who told me to post my previous writing. He is concerned that new believers not get caughtup in discussions that they are not spiritually mature enough for. Line upon line. Precept upon precept. This is HIS order of maturing His children. Jesus' example is indicative of how we should be. And another good thing for every child of God to do is look for the fruit. You will know them by their fruit.

My comment was that you are exceptionally gifted, not extraordinary.

Please let's not use the word, "magic" as it has a tone of witchcraft to it. I have cast it from my personal vocabulary. Jesus said not to give the devil a foothold. I take Jesus' words very serious.

Yes, I know I have been called And chosen.
mrspiggy- 4/23/2008 8:23:36 AM

Thank-you for the information & comments on my testimony. It goes a lot further than that but it would be so much longer and I didn't want to make the read long or get off the subject of discussion. I was on another forum on a different site and my comment was deleted because something I said went off the subject of the forum.
You see I am new to being a practicing christian. I can't call it being re-born except re-born in the spirit because this is a first for me since about five years ago but I was baptized in immersion of water last year.
When God first spoke to me about three months ago, He said that He had been with me over the years through all my troubles and that He loved me. He told me that I must start anew and that He was going to greatly bless me and build me a nation. He told me to give away all the product in the store that my husband and I had built together.
Since then, Satan has been coming at me greatly but not so much as I learn how to deal with him through Jesus Christ.
I have had dreams and visions of gold being fed into my mouth, a scroll opened up before me and then was re-rolled and seven of them were fed into my mouth. I believe these were the word of God.
Thank-you for letting me know how to know what spirit is talking to me. I knew God would answer me somehow.
When I ask Him a question I follow the prompting to surf the net, check my email, read the bible and listen as I know He will always answer in some way.
I actually came to this site to read about spiritual warfare and quite agree with the writer. Spiritual warfare is alive and well. Satan tries to convince people that he is not real so they won't pay attention to his works and are of no threat to him.
When I see/read about things I don't understand, I ask God and search till I find the answer because if He brings you to it then He must want for you to know. This is how I am having so many questions answered. God said He will never give you more than you can bear.
When God brings people together, there is a reason and most likely spiritual growth.

Thank-you.
Yours in Christ.
shurdell- 4/23/2008 9:17:53 AM

Mrs. Piggy,
Here is the entire passage that you quoted out of context:

Nay, but by men of strange lips and of an alien tongue the Lord will speak to this people, to whom he has said "This is rest; give rest to the weary; and this is repose";
Yet they would not hear.
Therefore the word of God will be TO THEM precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little; THAT THEY MAY GO BACKWARD, and be broken and snared and taken.
Isaiah 28:11-13

When the student is ready to learn, the Teacher will appear.

Bye bye now.
BettiCrayons- 4/23/2008 8:45:55 PM

Thank you for the correction. My Bible states it this way:
Since they refuse to listen, God will speak to them through foreign oppressors who speak an unknown language! God's people could have rest in their own land if they would only obey him, but they will not listen. So the Lord will spell out his message for them again, repesting it over and over, a line at a time, in very simple words. Yet they will be injured, trapped and captured. Isaiah 28:11-13, Life Application Study Bible, New Living Translation 1996
mrspiggy- 4/23/2008 10:03:09 PM

BettiCrayons,

I don't think I took the scripture out of context. I was referring to the way GOD wants to teach His people, line upon line, precept upon precept. Very simple. That's why Jesus taught in parables about sowing seeds. Most of the people were farmers they could relate to what Jesus was saying. He told the fishermen, He'd make them fishers of men. Very simple. The entire concept of the kingdom was broken down into simple terms.

In Isiaiah, the people rejected Isiaiah's words because He spoke to them in simple terms. So, he prophesied they would be capture by the Assyrians and learn the hard way.
mrspiggy- 4/23/2008 10:17:26 PM

"When the student is ready to learn, the Teacher will appear."

Is this in the New Testament or Old Testament? I can't find it.
