Where do these come into the Bible, etc? How do they fit in relation to the Word of God?
Also, what about the solar system- planets and such- how do these come in?

JesusRocks,
I've missed you! Good questions. I have no valid answer. But since the Bible says, In the beginning God created the heavens and earth. I have taken it to mean the solar system is part of the heavens. Since the word is plural.
I don't know about the dinosaurs. I know the Bible speaks of giants and it is commonly believed that snakes had legs prior to the fall, maybe the dinosaurs were before the fall. I have often wondered about the time span between creation and the fall. For some reason, I have always thought there were many years. I based this on Adam naming all the creatures. It seems like it would be a time consuming task. And it happened before Eve came on the scene.
Of course I have no Biblical reference, just my opinion.

I recently began a Bible study with my 5-year-old daughter about dinosaurs and the Bible, due to an upcoming family vacation.
I found an excellent book called "The Great Dinosaur Mystery and the Bible" by Paul Taylor. It is a little complicated for her to understand, so I've broken it down for her some - but for adults, it's wonderful.
Dinosaurs are discussed in Job 40 (behemoth) and Job 41 (leviathan) in the Bible...
You may also want to visit http://creationevidence.org/ - it's the site for one of the museums we will be visiting during our vacation and has a lot of useful information about creation. The site is still being worked on as it was recently rebuilt/updated, so there are some topics not discussed yet - but it's a wonderful resource and should help answer a lot of your questions.
If you have a child, there is a really neat book showing dinosaurs on Noah's Ark - it's called "The True Story of Noah's Ark" by Tom Dooley - it explains the dimensions of the ark and has great illustrations! I would even deem it appropriate for adults as well, since at the back of the book, things are discussed more in detail.
I hope this helps! =D

I think that there were dinosaurs until some time after the flood. Keep in mind that God didn't allow anything to eat meat until after the flood, and paleontologists have found fossils of dinosaurs eating other animals. Everything before the flood ate only green plants. The flood also caused massive atmospheric changes, and nowadays there could be no pteradactols (giant flying reptiles) because of a lower air pressure. There might have also been a change in the amount of oxygen available, so the bigger dinosaurs would have had a harder time surviving. That is why they aren't around nowadays. As for the ark, wouldn't it make sense for Noah to have eggs on board? That would reduce the amount of food needed on tha boat and would also prevent overcrowding. I'm no expert, so if anyone has other ideas I'd like to hear them!
