I have a question about healing. When a ceritified christian puts their hand(s) on you for healing, what should you be thinking about? Should your mind be on prayer? Or on nothing? Just kneel and listen? Many replies are welcomed.

Hey Alison,
I just found this little website and was browsing and came across your question. First of all when someone prays for your healing, the only thing that matters is faith, and the realization that only God can heal you, not the certified minister. Secondly when they are praying with you, they are praying with you. Sort of redundant, but it makes a point. Just pray with them, and believe together in unity that God will honor your request. The rest is left up to God. For with God all things are possible.

Hi Alison,
I can only speak from my own personal experience.
When someone is praying for me, different things have been on my mind at different times. I do try to listen to what the person is saying. If I agree with the prayer, I may think or say out loud,
"Yes, Lord." Or "Amen, Lord." I may even add (silently or aloud) what is on my heart.
I have found that what touches me the most, is when the person shares a Scripture that is fitting, or in many cases, the same one that I have been chewing on lately. It seems to explode in my heart with truth, and I have felt God's touch and received healing!

Good Morning,
I agree with Alison. It's about your faith and if you believe God can heal you. I'm very familiar with this area of ministry because this is one of the gifts that God has given me. I've seen people healed instantly, and I've seen others not, but then in the Bible some were healed as they "went" so it all goes back to our faith and if we believe what our Lord says. God is a healer!!

"When He had gone indoors, the blind men came to Him, and He asked them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?"
"Yes, Lord," they replied. Then He touched their eyes and said, "According to your faith will it be done to you"; and their sight was restored." (Matthew 9:28)
It's all in the believing. You have to have faith.

Alison,
Do you have the gift of intercession? I have found that every person I know with this gift, wakes up during these hours. The Holy Spirit will wake you up and wants you to pray. You may or may not know who you are praying for. At times, the Spirit will reveal and at times, He won't. You may be praying for someone on the other side of the world or your next door neighbor.
I know when I was in the hospital, the Holy Spirit revealed to me that people all over the world were praying for me.

Alison, I agree with mrspiggy, that's usually what the Lord does when He wants us to pray. If you've ever read any books on Spiritual Warfare you will see that those hours are usually the time when satan is busy doing his work and so God wants us to pray. Sometimes we don't know who we're praying for but it's important that we intercede. I had a friend who was wakend one night around 2 a.m. and couldn't go back to sleep so she just started praying, her husband wasn't home from work yet and the Lord told her to pray. Several hours later there was a knock at her door and he had been in a car accident and had broken his neck. It's because of her intercession that he wasn't killed in that crash. God has a way of getting our attention and I believe that you probably are an Intercessor and don't know it. I suggest you talk to your pastor or an Elder in your church who can help you determine if this is your gifting.
Have a blessed day!

When you don't know what to pray for you have to let the Holy Spirit lead you. If you're quiet before the Lord He'll speak and place someone or something on your heart to let you know who and how to pray. The Spirit will intercede for you.

Zoey is right. I usually start with "Hallelujah!" and let the Holy Spirit take over. I'd like to share an experience from years ago. Not long after I discovered I was called as an intercessor, I was awaken by the Holy Spirit to pray. It was about 3 a.m. I started as usual, and a minute or so later, I couldn't hear my voice at all. Not that I was whispering, I just couldn't hear my voice, though I was praying out loud. As soon as it crossed my mind to rebuke satan since I thought he was trying to stop my prayer, the Holy Spirit revealed that I was praying for a deaf mute on the other side of the world. So, I kept praying until I felt a sense of release in my spirit and knew I could stop. I found this to be so awesome, I couldn't go back to sleep. I started just praising God for having used me and revealing the person to me. I shared this with the intercessory ministry when we met a couple of days later and discovered that others in the group had experienced the same thing at the same time!! God is so absolutely wonderful!!

MrsPiggy, Isn't it wonderful when God does those things to us and we know it has to be Him because its' so supernatural. I had an experience that I will never forget as long as I live.
If you remember I mentioned earlier that God has given me the gift of healing. Well about 2002 my Apostle started a class called Fivefold
Apostolic Church Training. All of her key leaders were in this class and the purpose was to learn about the Fivefold and to determine what our giftings were because this was where the Lord was leading our church. So, I deceided that I was going to go on a weeks fast, but the Holy Spirit told me no, do it for 30 days. So, I fasted from television, sweets, red meats and did fruits and vegetables. I had a routine of reading my word, doing my personal worship, and then falling down and praying. Well, this particular day was a Sunday evening and I had finished doing what I normally do on Sunday evening and I deceided to begin my routine. When I finished listening to my worship music I fell on my knees and begin to pray and as soon as I bowed my head in my hands the Lord (in the Spirit) dropped oil on the top of my head and the best I can describe the feeling is that it felt real thick ( I imagine how sugar would look mixed with honey and stirred) it ran down the back of my head, out over my shoulders, and all the way down to the heels of my feet. When the first drop hit my head I flinched because I didn't know what was happening. I laid there real still until he finished and once it was done all I could do for two hours was cry!!!!. I thought oh my gosh, what has happened here!!!!. I went to my Monday night meeting at church and I shared it with my Apostle and she told me it was an anointing for healing, and every since then the Lords has used me to bless others who are not well in their bodies. God is an AWESOME God and there's none like Him!!!!! He made Himself real to me that night and I will NEVER EVER, forget that feeling of that warm oil running over my body.
So, my sister in the Lord, I know exactly how you felt.:)

Zoey,
That was so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. There was a time my husband believed I had a gift of healing. Once, about 10 years ago, we flew to Atlanta to visit his best friend who was sick. My husband wanted me to pray for him. I did, we spent the night and flew home the next day. Well, Bob didn't recover instantly. My husband and I were not discouraged because we discussed the lepers who were healed as they went on their way. Anyway, Bob recovered completely. He left his hih paying job at microsoft and went into the ministry. Now, here comes the odd thing. Earlier this week he called us and he and I got to talking about praying in the Spirit and he told me he didn't understand why we were so hung up on all that stuff. He said that was all part of the start of the Church and he does not believe that saints today can speak in tongues or heal by laying on hands!! I was devastated. I spent the next day researching scriptures, which I put in an email and sent to him. He has not responded to the email yet. He did call my husband this morning and was polite when I answered the phone. This is my husband's best friend since 5th grade. I'm thinking he and his wife are Methodist. I'm hurt that so many of God's people are walking around totally ignorant of His gifts. Bob is a very intelligent man. He was one of the people who produced javascript for the computer world!! And that he knows so little about our Lord confuses me. He is a Bible school teacher, so he knows scripture. Never misses church. Is the spiritual leader in his home. But, at this point, I don't think he knows God. Do you know what I mean?

Have you confirmed your intercessory gift yet? If you're still not sure, ask God. And when you don't know what you should pray for, ask God. I believe God delights in our question and it is His pleasure to answer. It shows our faith in Him and our desire to do His will. Be blessed, woman of God.

I do know what you mean. I have a sister who is Methodist. She teaches Sunday School, and says she loves the Lord, BUT, when it comes to the Fivefold Ministry and the Gifts of the Spirit, she's alright with all of them except, Tongues, Prophecy, Word of Wisdom & Knowledge and Healing. She says that she believes in healing and that's only because we had an incident where my Father blacked out and his pulse was almost nothing and I laid my hand on his heart and begin to pray in the spirit and all of a sudden he snapped out of whatever it was. His tongue had dropped out of his mouth and once I began praying in the spirit, he opened his eyes and looked at me. The paramedics said there was a very faint pulse and that they were going to take he to the ambulance and work on him on his way to the hospital. When he arrived at the hospital, they ran all kinds of test on his heart and they could find NOTHING wrong with him and to this day they don't know what happened. My sister was in the room when by dad went out and when my other sister and I started praying in tongues her husband said to us "now is not the time for that" we totally disregarded him and did what we had to do. The next day after we all got back home to Michigan she told my younger sister that she knows he's alive now because of me laying hands on him and my younger sister and I praying in the spirit.
I don't understand how people can say they believe in God but not in the gifts he gives us. Their almost "double-minded". It's sad. All we can do is pray for them. I don't try to convice people anymore. I find that God has a way of showing up at the right moment to convince them :).

The Holy Spirit has impressed upon me that I need to state I have nothing against Methodist or any other group of believers. The teachings of various denominations causes separation in Bible beliefs is what I was getting at. I was raised Lutheran, attended a Baptist church for about 5 years, have been to a couple of Catholic Mass, so I know the teachings are different. The fact is I choose to believe the WHOLE Word of God. I don't think God has changed at all. I don't believe He is a respecter of persons. He gave spiritual gifts to the early church and He gives them to every reborn saint today. Again, I say, The Truth does not change. It does not matter if you know it or not. We live in a sinful world and Jesus has redeemed us and we have been blessed with EVERY spiritual gift. We have all we need to be productive and fruitful. If others don't want to know or use what God gave them. Let that be their answer at judgment. We must remember, we will not only have to give an account of what we did and said, but of what we didn't do or say and should have. Thank God for free will to chose if we will believe the whole truth or not.

Yes, Jesus is the best friend any of us could ever have. And as long as you know this, things are alright and will always be alright. He is faithful even when we are not. That's another reason I praise Him.
On this note I'd like to add a scripture that my pastor taught on today. In John 6:28, the disciples asked Jesus "What must we do to do the works God requires?" Jesus answered, " The work of God is this: to believe in the one He has sent."
This truly blessed me cause as I stated before I was struggling to do something in my own strength. And your mentioning a sign made me think of it. I don't have to do anything except pray and believe in Jesus. He will do the work.

That is a great question. You should also be in one accord with those praying for you. This is showing God that you want healing. Don't have your mind on what you are gonna eat for lunch or work in the morning. Have your mind on the healing, that you may know that you will have that healing.

Alison,
I have been taking a class, "Faith and Healing" for a few weeks now. The main point that I've grasp from it is that when we pray for healing (or anything), we must believe receive, when we are praying. There are several scriptures to support this. Matthew 8:13, Matthew 9:28, Mark 5:36, Mark 9:23, Mark 10:52, Luke 8:48 & 50, John 4:53.
There are many more, but you get the point with these. There is a difference between believing and faith. Believing says, "Yes, Lord, Your word is true", while faith is the "action" that moves on what is believed. When we believe that we are healed, the first thing we do is praise God. Then, we put it in action, we take up our mat and walk.
Even if symptons persist, we can't doubt, we MUST continue to have faith. Sometimes healing is instant, other times it is gradual. Like the 10 lepers who were healed as they went. The fact that they went shows their faith. (Luke 17:11-14)
I am only sharing what I have learned. The Word says, "To whom much is given, much is required".

Mrspiggy,
I know in my heart I've done everything right with the Lord.I have believing AND faith. If anyone ever doubts that in me,well they should never sit in judgement of me for that's the Lord's doing. The Lord knows what's in my heart. If I had sinned or am sinning I repent everytime.I'm just saying that the reason I am not healed now does mean I'm a bad person. It means it's not the Lord's will, for now.

Alison Sweetheart,
I don't judge anyone else but ME. It is never my intent to offend anyone. I only share what the Lord has given me. I KNOW that God's word is TRUE. And the Word says, He heals ALL our diseases. If you believe that it's not God's will to heal you now, then that's what you will receive. You will have what you say. The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. (Proverbs 18:21)
"I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you HAVE RECEIVED IT, and it will be yours." (Mark 11:23-24)
He's a "now" healer. You receive WHEN you ask believing.
(I typed all caps because I don't know how to bold. I'm not yelling at you, just wanted to stress those words.)

MrsPiggy,
Can I share part of a testimony? After suffering and missing out on life, and almost dying because of "Severe Depression," (long story, not now) we went to a new Church. One day after Church, I went up to two Ladies who were strong Prayer Worriors. I told them about the Depression, and they laid hands on me and prayed...
While they were praying, I JUST NEW! I JUST KNEW that the Lord healed me! (I had no proof, in fact I told my Husband and my best Friend that I believed that I was healed, and they didn't believe me.
They also told me NOT to go off my meds. That is when I heard a Scripture come into my heart and mind; "Walk by faith, not by sight."
(I know my Husband was worried, since the Doctor has tried other times to wean me off my meds, and I would crash! My Doctor told me NOT to off the meds. in fact, he said he wanted to Raise my dosage! I said "No. I believe God healed me!" I knew the Lord was my Great Physician! I prayed, and our Church had a Revival that whole week! I went to Church and soaked in the Scriptures! They were like Medicine to my soul!!! It was if the Preacher was talking about me, and my life...(So was everyone around me for sure!)
I began to go off the meds. Scriptures began to come to me,
to Stand firm on. One of them was;
"Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them."
Mark 11:24
I believed I was healed, MrsPiggy, but I still had no proof...
Now I was going to Revival at Church, and spending a lot of time remembering things from the Past, and crying...
And at home alone one day, I walked into the Bathroom, not even turning on the light. I just stood there. And I wondered about it all. And all of a sudden, my stomache hurt so bad, It felt like there were Huge Heavy Boulders in my stomache, and they were churning...
I started crying out loud, like a woman having a baby... I cried out to God something like; "Oh God, what's wrong with me! Please help me!"
Then I began to see (in my mind's eye) my life. It seemed to flash Backwards. It stopped each time I remembered someone Hurting me, or Offending me. (The pain seemed so unbearable! I cried many tears,
and they just kept comming.) I cried out to God again. Something like;
"Lord, why are you making me remember and go through this?"
And I suddenly knew that whenever anything had happened to me in my Past, that the Lord was right there with me.
I wasn't alone when it happened. This brought me so much comfort and peace, I felt as if someone put a soft warm blanket around my shoulders. (Yet the memories kept comming too. And the pain and the tears...) "Lord Help me!!!"
Part of a Scripture also seemed to fall on my shoulders;
"Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us." Suddenly, truth hit me! For all these years, I never forgave anyone for ever hurting me! In fact, I would take it with me to Breakfast, and throughout my day, each day. (A heavy load to carry!)
More memories came... I must have cried a river of tears...
Then I cried out to God; "Please help me forgive these people who have hurt me!" And suddenly, I felt this Huge Weight, lift off of my shoulders, and sensed the Lord's Peace! Now I can remember the Past, and it doesn't hurt to remember. I have peace!
Mrs.Piggy, I didn't know til later one day in reading the Bible, that the Scriptures actually say this;
"Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses." Mark 11:24-26
God's Word is true! It is lifechanging!

IgnitedFaith,
Thank you so much for sharing. It encourages my spirit and I know in the sharing it encourages you too. If you have read my testimony, you know I had a brain attack in November 2006. I did not pray for healing. When the doctors came in the room after I was admitted to hospital, the first thing out of my mouth was, "I shall live and not die. I will declare the work of the Lord."
My Pastor has been teaching a lot on we will have what we say. Everyday I try to get people to understand that it's all in the believing.
I just realized today, that what I told those doctors has come upon me. Mark 6:29, "Jesus answered. "The work of God is this: to belive in the one he has sent." I did not realize November 21, 2006, I was prophesying into my life.
When I left the hospital Dec. 30, 2006 in a wheelchair, I said to my husband, "I will walk again." I'm walking.
I believe the Word of God with all my heart. Every word. We are to live by faith. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.
Keep believing you beautiful woman of God!! Confess all the promises of God in your life, BELIEVE them and receive them NOW, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Much agape love to you.
