... is if, on returning to the site I had some sort of home page of my own where I could see shortcuts to the posts/comments I have made previously.
Although the site is well set out, there is so much of it that I forget which articles I have added comments to, and it would be good to see if anyone has responded to those comments.
I appreciate the email to inform me of some things, but if I just log in without those emails it can take a while to search the maze.
Probably just me!

Thanks for the suggestion, Dave. It's an excellent idea, and very consistent with where we want to go with Delve Into Jesus long-term. If you're interested, you can "Add a Suggestion" under the "Your Account" menu. This will allow you to track all your suggestion in once place. It will also send you notifications by email when we start work on your idea, and again when it is completed. Either way, we'll get started on this for you in the next few days. Thanks again, Dave. I really appreciate all your contributions to the site - it's been great having you as a member of the site.

Dave,
The first step in being able to tell you what is new since you last logged on is being able to track what you've already read. This was always in place with articles, but this weekend we added code to track every other type of item on the site. This will enable us to do three things - first, we can tell you what's new on the site since you last logged in, second, we can tell you what items you have not yet read, and third, we can tell you what new comments have been posted since you last viewed an item.
This code only went on the server this morning, so it will only track items you read from this point on, but it will be a start. Later this week, we'll start work on the home page which will give you a personal overview of what's new on the site. Thanks again for this great suggestion.

Dave, If you want to get a sneak peek of of what's coming up, you can check out http://delveintojesus.com/members/userhome.aspx. This will show you all the items you have commented on, which have received new comments since the last time you viewed the item. Keep in mind that it will only work for new comments you've made since last Saturday, since that's when we put the new code on the server. (If it's blank, then there are no new comments.) This page will become the new home page and will be highly customized for each user. This preview is a small step towards that goal, but I hope you find it useful in the meantime.

Dave,
Some more progress to report. That same page at http://delveintojesus.com/members/userhome.aspx will now remember the last time you visited, and will show you all new items which have been created since your last visit. (When you go the page the first time, it will show you all news items since you signed up). One more step toward your idea, we're almost there! Thanks again for the great suggestion, and the motivation to get there.

I'd like to see people who post prayer request or begin a discussion come back and give an update on their situations. I have read some post from more than 3 months ago that seem to have been abandoned by the creators. I'd like to know, did they get the job?, leave their spouse or stay? resolve the issue that prompt the discussion or blow it off?
The Word says, He who has began a good work in you is able to complete it.

So, many long months after Dave first made his excellent suggestion, the new home page is done (and has been in place for about week). The change happened without any fanfare because I wanted people to have some time to get used to it. So...regular visitors, what does everyone think? Helpful, or not helpful?

Arsindelve,
Forgive me. I have been remiss in my response to the new home page. Of course, I noticed right away and took advantage of it. Thank you, I like going back to read the responses since I posted. It has been very helpful.

Thanks for the new Home page; it is helpful and is visually appealing!
You have a sharp eye for artistic detail. This website is one of my favorites - for visual appeal. It is easy to see how important this labor of love is to you; you seem to go to great lengths attempting to perfect it.
I'm fond of each of the graphics throughout the site. I've been wondering if you created them? The inspiring but subtle nature scene titles are great. Each page has an easy feel with simple sophistication. The uncluttered look with soft and sparing colors make an inviting and comfortable impression.
The welcoming gummy man leaning on the globe is very descriptive as is the question mark in the magnifying glass on the home page. I really like this style of graphics.
Adding the verse of the day is a useful touch; I often review it while bored during phone conversations, a few times throughout the day, or click on to BibleGateway if a call is really unrelenting. I also like the classic look of the Bible and stack of scholarly books. They are fitting for the topics they introduce.
But, since you had asked quite awhile ago about how the site looks, I have a few odd comments related to my personal tastes:
Again during interminable phone conversations, I wonder about the more contemporary man on the globe and magnifying glass harmonizing on the same page with the classic look of the Bible and books. Did you have a more old-timey and ornate magnifying glass and compass at one point?
I like the right aligned titles in the content boxes, with the item lists left aligned. But, I don't like the look of New Items Since Your Last Login aligned on the right, since the new items are centered. But, this feature is a great addition; being able to see what's new for faster checking is appreciated.
I had better stop there with the picky and unimportant details; I was just looking for an excuse to take a break from chasing kids under the hot sun. Sincerely, the entire site is wonderful, looks fantastic and I appreciate your unending efforts!

I agree 100 with Ignited Faith. Also the new home page for members is quite useful. It's alot easier than what I used to do to navigate where i'v posted. (go to duscussions -recent posts) Thank you for making things more accessible!
