It's great if you love rock music! It gets you pumped up and energized, but the lyrics are so meaningful and really say something! Comatose is an awesome song and I absolutely love whispers in the dark; its such a beautiful song. If you ever see them in concert too, they are just amazing too!

Revival in Belfast

Posted by Michael Lane on 09/29/07 : Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 in 1 votes

Category: Worship
Artist: Robin Mark
Link to Album: http://www.robinmark.com/index.php?section=18

Robin Mark hails from Northern Ireland and his music reflects the rich Celtic tradition of that land. Full of unique and beautiful instruments, rich melodies and powerful messages of worship, this album stands out as among the very best. Robin is an accomplished song writer and many of his songs are among the mainstays in western churches, but there is nothing quite like hearing Robin himself, backed by flutes, whistles and harps of his home church in Belfast.

What makes a worship leader special is much more than their talent and ability. Their heart for God, their passion and their humility come across in their music. Having had the pleasure of meeting Robin on two occasions, I can tell this is a man with a genuine heart and passion for worship, with not an ounce of pretension or pride. That makes his music all the more enjoyable, knowing that the focus is on God and worship, not on Robin who is simply there to give the glory to God.

The Art Of Breaking

Posted by Michael Lane on 09/30/07 : Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 in 1 votes

Category: Hard Rock
Artist: Thousand Foot Krutch

I like to think there are rules to writing music. Those who don't know the rules at all can't produce anything marketable. Those who know the rules well can write "safe" music with mass appeal. This represents about ninety percent of all music on the market, and I find it all boring and uninspired. Finally, there are those who know the rules, but break them anyway. These artists often produce random noise will little appeal, but every so often, it is done with brilliance and genius. This is one of those albums.

Even the heavy songs such as "Hand Grenade" with it's pounding drums and shredding guitar have fantastic melodies and addictive rhythms. Other songs, such as "Hurt" are pure musical masterpieces.

When you get tired of the same old boring hard rock or quasi-punk offerings that come out every other week, pick up this album and find out what makes the difference between music as a commodity, and music as an art-form.

Jesus Freak

Artist: dc Talk
Link to Album: http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B000000V0I?ie=UTF8&tag=delin...

I was a Christian for a long time before I ever began listening to Christian music. I had a perception that all Christian music was the same - lame and boring. From time to time, a co-worker would play this CD inside our small workspace, and one day it just hit me - "Hey, this isn't bad!"

I picked up a copy for myself and played it over and over again. Suddenly, I wanted more. I started asking my co-worker for more bands like this one. On his recommendation, I picked up Delirious, Tree 63 and others. But this CD, which I still think is one of the best in contemporary Christian music, will always hold a special place in my heart. It was the start of my deep love for Christian music.

Too bad dc Talk is not around anymore, because this is a great album. There is not one weak track on this CD, and there are some incredible standouts such as "In The Light" and "What Have We Become".

Answer To The Question

Artist: Tree63

I saw Tree63 live before I really knew who they were, having only heard a few of their songs on the radio. When I saw them live, I was absolutely blown away. I remember thinking, "How can three guys produce such a rich, full sound?" These three guys are not just great live, they also produce really original, catchy and inspirational tunes. I started listening for their skill as musicians, but it's the quality of their songwriting which has kept me listening over and over. This is not the same cookie-cutter rock that is all too common, this is something different and fresh.

Sunday!

I think this might be their finest album yet. It is unfortunate, in one sense, that it contains some songs I don't like. That's never been an issue with any of their other albums. On the other hand, the songs I do like are so good they are beyond anything else they have ever released. These guys really know how to write songs. They have amazing depth and creativity and there is nothing unoriginal about the music on this album.

One of the things I admire most about Tree63 is their straight-up praise lyrics. Other contemporary bands (Kutless, Skillet, TFK) have either incomprehensible lyrics, or lyrics which don't seem to have much to do with Jesus Christ. Tree63 goes in the opposite direction, with lyrics that boldly and confidently offer praise and worship with no hidden meaning. More than any other rock band, I feel like I am really worshipping God when I put in their CD.

Furious

Posted by Scott on 01/09/13 : No Ratings

Category: All Music
Artist: Jeremy Riddle

Style: Contemporary Worship

Furious is an outstanding worship album, with a variety of different songs that speak right to the heart. Each track is put together very well, and Riddle's voice brings the worship to life. A number of these songs are definitely Sunday-morning worthy. God's name is lifted high in songs like Love Came Down, Acquitted, Fall Afresh, and Furious, and through the rest of the album. It's sure to become a favourite.
