Would you like to help reach the world for Christ from your living room … or your kitchen, bedroom, office, or local coffee shop?
These days, you can.
People search for information every minute on the Internet. “What time does the movie start?” “What’s the latest scoop on
American Idol
?” They also look for personal connection and fulfillment: “What’s the secret of love?” “Does anybody care about me?” “I’m depressed and want to die … Help!”
What if, when people searched the web for answers, they could find Jesus?
And what if
you
were there to point them to Him?
Your Global Reach
The Internet is a 21st-Century backyard fence, office water cooler, town hall, theater, news ticker and more. Its pervasive reach means that what you write in an email, tweet, post on Facebook or on a website, or upload to YouTube can touch lives from Toledo to Toronto to Timbuktu; from Boston to Boise to Beijing.
The growing Internet evangelism phenomenon is taking the Gospel to the ends of the earth. An exciting book by my friend, Craig von Buseck, tells you how to harness the power of the web to take Good News to people who really need it.
NetCasters: Using the Internet to Make Fishers of Men
(B&H Books, 2010) is packed with ideas for using your laptop or cell phone to impact more lives than you might have imagined possible. You can send emails, post videos, interact with others, write articles, blog and more.
Casting Nets Widely
Craig
is Ministries Director for
CBN.com
and a leader in the digital evangelism movement. His book builds on Jesus’ famous
invitation
to two fishermen, Simon and his brother Andrew: “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” The brothers “left their nets at once and followed him.”
NetCasters
encourages us to use the Internet to cast our nets widely to help bring people to faith. It’s filled with inspiring stories and practical suggestions from the world’s top web evangelists to help you tap this amazing resource to reach people for Christ. You don’t have to be a techie. You can do it!
Chapters cover the whys and hows of casting your net, how to use video and social networking to spread the Gospel, and how to “attract the fish.” Church and ministry leaders will find ideas for using digital tools to enlarge their borders for global – and local – outreach, discipleship and training.
Changed Lives
NetCasters
tells of Kristi, a University of Virginia student, who perused an evangelistic website to which a friend had pointed her. After reading articles that helped answer questions that had troubled her, she encountered a Gospel presentation that intrigued her: “It was something I had never thought about, that God could be living within me. I was blown away that I could actually have a relationship with God.”
“And so,” writes Craig, “sitting by herself in her dorm room, staring at a Web site on her computer, Kristi invited Jesus Christ to be her Lord and Savior.”
“I remember sitting there in my pajamas at my desk chair,” Kristi recalled, “just praying and crying. I was so happy.” Through the website, she met new online friends who helped her grow in faith. Eventually, she began pointing her classmates to the website. She says God used the Internet, “this tool that I was on every single day -- to reach me.”
And God can use you, too, to reach seekers, skeptics and the curious just like Kristi, people hungry for grace and truth who spend much of their lives meandering through the digital universe.
NetCasters
will show you how.

The Internet, if I am not mistaken, was originally developed to be a tool. Yes, use it... For the glory of God. Bless you!
