My Question

Hello, Recently I was saved and asked God to come into my life. That was
a month ago. Prior to that I was a Buddhist. But I felt that was not the right
path so I started looking for a church. When I pray I don't feel God's presence.
I am afraid that he is too upset with me because I was a Buddhist. I turned
to Buddhism because I thought God may not forgive me for my sins since
they were so bad. I regret something that I did when I turned 20.
I had an abortion. I had a horrible relationship with my Mom, and I was
not able to tell her I was pregnant. Can you help ?

Dear Joy,
When Jesus suffered and died on the cross for your sins,
He did it for ALL of your sins...not just some of them.

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Romans 6:23

(Confess your sins to God...Then really STOP sinning and follow God. Look for a Church that Preaches the Word of God, and it will bless you to also join a good Bible Study.)
Do you have your own Bible?
Read a little each day. You may want to start in the
Psalms, and also the Chapters of John and Romans!

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

1 John 1:9

Press on, keep praying no matter how you FEEL.
God knows your weakness...His Grace is all you need.
His strength is made perfect in your weakness.

(The HOLY SPIRIT is all you need.)
"Because you are his children, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts.

He is the Holy Spirit. By his power we call God "[Abba.]" Abba means Father."

Galatians 4:6

"In the same way, the Holy Spirit helps us when we are weak. We don't know what we should pray for. But the Spirit himself prays for us. He prays with groans too deep for words."

Romans 8:26

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart;
and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him,
and he shall direct thy paths."
Proverbs 3:5-6

(I'm praying for you too!)
Keep walking with Jesus!

Dear Joy,
I have been a Christian for almost a year now, and recently went through a period of doubt - similar to what you've described, not 'feeling' God's presence, reading about the Holy Spirit in Acts and wondering whether I really did have Him in me etc all leading to a few days where I genuinely didn't think I actually was saved... I wish to share with you something God has taught me since then (hard to believe I didn't fully understand this before!):

Jesus said: "And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." John 8:32

It doesn't matter how we feel at a particular moment - what matters is the Truth. If we don't feel God's presence that doesn't make any difference:

"Behold, I am with you always even until the end of the age" Matthew 28:20

Because the Truth is that He is with us. Our feelings and emotions change and shift continually, but God does not change.

"...the truth will set you free" not emotions or thoughts or feelings . You are forgiven, you are a child of God, because God says you are through your faith in Jesus, no matter how you feel at a particular moment.

praying for you,
Alex
