I think it's great, IF there is harmony. So many groups that are singing are being supported by instruments and do not have good voices nor sing in harmony. The music "carries" the song. A cappella is for people with a singing gift from God.

I agree MrsPiggy! What would you think if a Church only sang Acappella, and they didn't have harmony, or great voices? The Church I am talking about is very against music at Church for worship. (They feel it is wrong.) I think musical instruments sound beautiful and can add a lot to worship! My Husband went to the Church once and he said he missed the music. I was just wondering if anyone else ever went to a Church that was against playing music? Are there any Bible verses that say that music at Church is bad?

Actually, quite the opposite. As you know Miriam played the tamborine and David, the harp. II Chronicles 5:12-13 is all about the singers and the musicians playng the trumpet, harps, cymbals and lyres. To me, it reads like there was a "praise & worship" concert going on. The Lord, himself showed up!!!

Sorry, I stopped to put some music on and got caught up in my own P&W. To answer your question, I often go to Acappella concerts. I have three sisters-in-law who sing in the chiors at their churches, plus they have formed a groupwith 30 other singers from churches all around the city. But, the singers have beautiful voices. If all a church offered was acappella, I would not be a member!! My church has it all, including a very gifted sax player. About once every other month, he does a solo. I believe the angels stop to listen.

Amen MrsPiggy. My thoughts were also on the many instruments spoken of in the Bible! That is neat about your three Sister-In-Laws!!! I am thankful for beautiful music. I find it a blessing even at Church! One thing I forgot to mention, the Church I was telling you about, they don't mind music anywhere else, just not at Church!

Greets, I once visited the Shaker village with my family.They gave a demo of a typical church day.No music,just dancing and singing.I thought it was cool.
