Fears About Joining A New Church
|
|
|
|
With University full-time and working part-time I have taken a spiritual leave of absence i guess you could say, and i really feel like the sheep that has wandered from the Shepard and needs the Lord to find her. I want to start attending a new non-denominational church and I just have a really silly fear of being judged. I have some beliefs that are not mainstream Christian - for example my choice not to wait till marriage to have sex, and my thoughts on evolution. I really feel that at some point it will come up if i really commit to a new church community and that I will be judged for it and not respected. I respect other's differences in beliefs, but don't feel i will get it in return. I need some guidance and advice.

Consider the differences between what you call mainstream Christianity and biblical principles. It is a biblical principle to refrain from sex until marriage. It is also a biblical principle not to judge. With God, there are no little sins or big sins. Judging others is the same as premaritial sex. If you feel led to join this church, do so. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth.

Greetings LittleLady:
That's actually great news. I'm so delighted to know that you want more of God and his love. God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, will accept you back with open arms, total forgiveness and the promise of an abundant life, no matter what Bible believing church you join.
As far as finding a church that shares your worldview, that may difficult. I do know that you will find many mainstream and non-denominational churches that accept a version of evolution. But, the sex before marriage thing might be a little tougher. I’ll explain why.
When you first open up your Bible, God’s Word, to the very first book, the very first thing that God wants us to know was that “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth”. Then, the very next thing God wants us to know is how He did it, in what order He did it and how long it took him to do it.
The reason that this is so important to God is because He wants us to know that we, you and I and all humans are the only reason for creation. Yes, there is a purpose and meaning to life. We didn’t just evolve by way of a "something-out-of-nothing event", with no rhyme or reason for our being on this planet.
You are so very special to God in this life and the next, and that is why He wants you to find a man that will always treat you just as special. There really is a man for you that will bless you and keep you from harm, hassle and heartbreak. Going to bed with a guy that says he loves you, is just a simple act of selfish pleasure. Going to bed with your husband is an act of him saying “Oh baby, I love you so much that I have proven my commitment to always, not just ‘till I don’t feel like it any more, care for you no matter what the cost or sacrifice”. Isn’t that worth waiting for?
Just as soon as you start trusting God at His word, He will “give you the desires of your heart”.
