A Very Troubling Experience

Today I had my last day of high school ever. At the end of the day, the school had planned a surprise for all of the students. After we all sat down in the gym, we were told what the surprise was: a hypnotist. I immediately began to feel slightly uneasy about this, although I expected the whole thing to be rather lame and cheesy. As it turned out, I could not have been farther from the truth. The man began by getting about thirty or so volunteers on the stage. He did some quick "trials" to see which of the kids would be chosen to be hypnotized. I noticed that very quickly, any Christians on the stage were told that they would not be able to do it. That in itself was troubling to me. As the man began the hypnosis in earnest, I began to feel increasingly sick and uneasy. Within minutes, I felt like I wanted to just get up and leave, but unfortunately I didn't do so. I also thought about pulling out my i-pod, which happens to have the entire Bible on it. I somehow decided that it would be rude to have an electronic device out in the middle of a presentation. As the show continued, I noticed that the people on the stage were completely unaware of what was going on. I became very nervous, and I could hardly breathe. All the people around me were laughing at the spectacle, but I didn't find it funny at all. When it finished, and the subjects regained their memory, many of them were shocked and upset that they were put through such an ordeal. As I walked back towards my locker, I began to feel numb, dizzy, and sick to my stomach. I briefly began to hyperventilate. The vice-principle noticed, and recommended that I return to the hypnotist to see if anything like this ever happens to people who see the show. A friend of mine came with me and explained what happened, but the hypnotist said that there could be nothing wrong with me at all, and that there had never been any adverse effects to seeing his presentations. I could sense that he probably didn't truly believe that I was suffering from anything. He left without saying anything else to me. I went home, and began to feel a bit better. I'm still a little bit shaky even remembering the incident.
What I would like to know is what actually happened this afternoon. Personally, I believe that there was something very evil and demonic going on in my school. I know that there was nothing wrong with me physically, and nobody else I talked to seemed to feel odd at all. I believe that I was being attacked spiritually by the evil one. I've never felt anything like this at all in my entire 17-year-life. Do any of you have any explanations as to what may have happened here? I want to be prepared in the event that something like this happens again.

Is there obvious symbolism here, or have I been reading too many cheap devotionals?
Whatever was intended to make your last day of school a bad experience, will be turned around for good.
Is it time to say good bye to DiGrassi High because you're big and brave enough to march off to War?
Rather than being entertained by the hypno-show, you're fortunate to have been bothered by it. Regardless of what Satan hurls at you, it is where Jesus will take you, in the work He began in you, that is the real spectacular to behold.

The Bible says he lurks around like a lion to see who he can devour. Which means he can't devour just anyone. Perhaps in a state of hypnosis, a person is temporarily vulnerable. It is quite possible that you discerned an evil spirit amongst you and your classmates. You need not fear as you are covered and protected by His Blood.

Ephesians 6:10-17 ...
10Finally, let the mighty strength of the Lord make you strong. 11Put on all the armor that God gives, so you can defend yourself against the devil's tricks. 12We are not fighting against humans. We are fighting against forces and authorities and against rulers of darkness and powers in the spiritual world. 13So put on all the armor that God gives. Then when that evil day [a] comes, you will be able to defend yourself. And when the battle is over, you will still be standing firm. 14Be ready! Let the truth be like a belt around your waist, and let God's justice protect you like armor. 15Your desire to tell the good news about peace should be like shoes on your feet. 16Let your faith be like a shield, and you will be able to stop all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Let God's saving power be like a helmet, and for a sword use God's message that comes from the Spirit.
