Religions

With what degree of certainty do we conclude that we Christians are following the will of God while the rest of religions are falsity? Even within Christianity itself we're divided along dogmatic lines; what does God want (for in any case the bible can be given many interpretations). Can God approve of interfaith dialogue. What happens to denominations that don't ascribe to rapture? Where's the ultimate truth?

The ultimate truth can only be known when we tap into the truth that is within us; because God is truth.
The problem is that we look for the truth that we want to hear and not what God wants us to hear.
The NT has distorted the truth which is contained in the OT.

Gerry,

Thanks for an excellent question! I've spent a lot of time thinking about this, and have written a few articles about it. Here are two on the issue of Christianity being the "right" religion:

http://delveintojesus.com/articles/46/How-Can-Christians-Say-Other-Religions-Are-Wrong.aspx

http://delveintojesus.com/articles/17/Is-It-Intolerant-to-Say-Jesus-is-the-Only-Way.aspx

Here is another by Pastor Rick Reed:

http://delveintojesus.com/articles/80/Is-Jesus-the-Only-Way-to-God.aspx

On the issue of Christianity itself being divided, here is my take on it:

http://delveintojesus.com/articles/73/Why-Are-There-Many-Different-Christian-Churches.aspx

I hope you find something interesting and helpful in one or more of those articles. Either way, I'd love to hear your thoughts and those of the other members of Delve Into Jesus.

Wolfson,

You originally came to our site asking questions and claiming to want to know more, but it's evident that you've now crossed the line into something else. You're no longer investigating - you're overtly berating and deriding our faith. If you want to continue to seek and ask questions, you're more than welcome, but if you wish to answer other people's questions with anti-Christian commentary, I'll kindly ask you to stop. I'm sure you can understand that I can't allow outright anti-Christian sentiments to be expressed on this website. Surely, you would feel the same way if some of our members began to post anti-Semitic comments on a Jewish website that you ran and paid for - something I would never condone. Thanks for your understanding.

Michael,

I have no intention to be anti-christian, I am responding to someone who is delving for the truth.
You promised that this sight is doing exactly that, delving for truth about Jesus.
I have also done exactly that as you are aware from all my posts.
The fact that I have discovered that the NT is full of distortions about the teachings of Jesus should not bother you since this is the total truth.
If you find any problems with Judaism feel free to discuss this openly with me and I will do my best to respond; and I will not accuse you of being anti-semitic.
If you feel that my input for the truth is not your truth then I have no problem with that; but then my conclusion would be that your quest for truth is not absolute.
Jesus may have been a good man but he did not write the NT and it is not the word of God.
But don't let me disappoint you, think as you please.

Thank you Michael. I've already done the critical study of both the New Testament and the Old Testament. But it is clear to me that nobody would go to such great undertakings just to please man. With confusions and contradictions within [the Bible], we still can conclude that it is the word of God. Was canonization necessary? Were other books left out profane? My fear is that we might have only gone for what we wanted to hear rather than what actually happened, then proclaim the name of God in it. I enjoyed the references you gave me outside the scriptures (some of which I've seen before). I believe many people would come to Christ if we use non-biblical biographies at the beginning. Once again, thank you much.
