Jesus In My Room
|
|
|
|
I have been thinking a lot lately about how I would feel if Jesus was in my room, or life, watching everything I do. How ashamed I would feel if He could see the things I do. I then, of course, realized that Jesus IS in my room, in my life, watching everything I do; hearing my every word and thought.
Whenever I speak He hears my words; and I find myself asking should I say that in front of Jesus?
Whatever I do He sees my actions.
At first I was ashamed and frightened, as well I should, but then I realized that Jesus was convicting me with this thought. He is helping me understand that He is always here.
He is not watching and waiting for me to stumble so He can jump out and scream "GOTCH YA you dirty little sinner" that is satan talking. He is watching and waiting for me to embrace Him, to repent and come into eternal life.
Ezekiel 18:23 Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live?

MichaelRix,
Your gift of wisdom is delightful. So many Christians do not give what you have posted a thought. They either think they left Jesus at the altar or that He lives in them, but is blind. Or they put too much thought into Him seeing their every move. Our Lord judges our thoughts and attitudes. Hebrews 4:12
There's someone who said, "To thine own self be true." I think he got it from this scripture.
This scripture has kept me from being a hypocrite. If my heart isn't in it, I won't do it. Even if it seems like the correct thing to do.

Hebrews 4:12-13 NIV For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Yes it is true, God knows our hearts; He knows when we are being sincere and when we are just going through the motions. He does not desire the motions: 1 Corinthians 4:5 NIV ...He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts... But I also believe that when ones heart has been hardened by life, as mine has, going through the motions can condition the heart, soften it, and bring about the change in heart that God so desires for us. At first prayer is hesitant, often automatic, not knowing what to say to God; but if you persist you become comfortable speaking with God. Once you become comfortable with Him you open more of your heart to Him. Soon your heart is in tune with God and you learn to submit to His will. I guess that isn't really "going through the motions" but a conscience effort to condition your heart to be in line with God's heart. Your heart may not be in it, but if it is right in the eyes of God you should condition your heart so it is in it. Proverbs 27:19 NIV As water reflects a face, so a man's heart reflects the man.

I agree. If it is right in the eyes of God. I don't do it if it seems right in the eyes of man, if my heart isn't in it. That's hipcrisy. It's like that scripture where God says they give me lip service, but their hearts are far from me. His ways are not our ways.

Yes, He is always with us and knows what we do, say, think, and feel. But He is there to help us be Christlike. It is hard in today's world to keep being Christlike, especially when certain family members do not seem to respect the way you try to live your life. Hebrews 4:12-13 is so true, also the verse about living in this world but not being a part of this world. We are to be changed.
Thank you, it is comforting to know there others out there.

God sees our hearts...we can not lie to Him to make Him think we are in it....If you can't, then we ought to ask for strength to be able to.
When I was going through a challenge in my life, I had to start by asking for the willingness to get out, then I started praying for strength to come out. I diddn't want to get out, but God made me want to get out...and he is in the process of taking me out. Soon Il be testifying!
Christ is Lord!
