Have Mercy

I believe I received an important revalation from the Lord this morning that I would like to share with someone. I woke up quiet early this morning. I stepped out on my front porch to enjoy a cup of coffee. Mind you it was about 5:30am. Anyway where I live...is across the field from 2 clubs. To my suprise there were still people out there!! As I set on my porch I could hear the loud music from inside the club. Silently I said "Lord Have Mercy" and I asked God to save them. Then as I set there it hit me....it's like God said...You have mercy...You save them. Somewhere in that conversation with the Lord...I GOT IT!!! My silent prayer turned into.."Lord place in me the wisdom, ability, knowledge, strength, power and obedience to do what I ask of YOU. You know we often see loved ones and strangers living in a world of sin...a world that we sometime forget we once lived...and we usually silently say "Lord have mercy." Not that this is bad...but I believe God is saying "Mexbias08" have mercy". I saved you so you can save others. So I decided that instead of just watching people live in sin it just may be more effective to boldly give them a word or two of encouragement from the Lord. Show them love as Jesus loves us. God Bless

Good morning to you to. And you are right I now they can't see themselves. Because when I was out there I couldn't see it. But I figure I would have came in quicker if I had someone that had already been where I was, grab me and lead me. Who knows? But it's a good feeling to know that it's not too late...I can do this for someone else. HUH?????LOL...I love you

How awsome are the ways of God, He gets us where He needs us, then He shows us what, how then He gives us what we need to do His will, we truely are His hands and feet, He washes them clean so we can get them dirty for them, Thank you for sharing, it's His wake up call, the alarm says time to get up, He says time to do.Amen

Hey Mexbias08 - thanks for sharing your insight! Surely God has blessed you, and perhaps He has also blessed me through your words. I'm glad you are so enthusiastic about personally reaching out to those who don't know God yet.

I read your first post right before I left for church, and during the entire drive I was thinking about your experience. It jogged my memory to recall an on-going battle we've been having in my city regarding witnessing to the community. A council of churches has been paying for some billboards around town which contain what the press has dubbed a conflicted message. I'm a little embarrassed to be on the side of the media in this debate but I did offer a few alternatives to the blight of the billboards. Both the council and I were not thrilled with those suggestions. However, as I was thinking over what you had posted, an idea came to me.

I was tentative about making another suggestion to the council, but then the sermon was about individuals making an impact in their community and scriptures referenced included Matthew 5:13-16. With your encouragement followed by the theme of the sermon, I'm now eager to send an e-mail to the council.

This idea incorporates a key element of my city's history with what the billboard message was attempting to relay. In 1513, Spanish explorers first came to our shores searching for a fabled Fountain of Youth. That debunked spring sits in a lovely park which has been a popular site for centuries. I hope future visitors to our city, as well as locals, will one day visit a Fountain of Life dedicated to the true living water of which Jesus spoke. At least that sounds better to me than dropping so much cash on those tacky billboards.

Well, who knows if that idea will ever fly, but it's been fun to think about the possibilities. Thanks for sharing your encouraging thoughts - they can go along way to inspire others! I hope you will keep us updated on your efforts to impact the people of your community.

Thanks also to Momma Kaye whose words I also found to be motivational!

Ryan,
Do you live in the city beautiful?

Yes Mrs. Piggy, I do indeed live in the city beautiful. To the glory of God, I hope that my impact will enhance its beauty - especially the beauty of the hearts of its people.

I recognized the description. The city beautiful is my hometown. I do believe you will make an impact on the hearts of the people there.

"If God be for us, who can stand against us?" Romans 8:31

May our Lord use you in a powerful way.

Mrs. Piggy - to me, that is an amusing coincidence. I think it was Einstein who said, "Coincidence is God's way of remaining anonymous." My family has been living here for three years. I had no idea we were moving to the Bible Belt - I had thought all of Florida was an outpost of New York. This community has had a beneficial impact on us - we will return the favor.

My Dear Ryan
I read ur post...and...WOW...I got so happy. I really feels good to know that there are still soldiers for the Lord. I am not familiar with your community but from what I have read I am interested. Honestly speaking..about the billboards...I am sort of wishy washy on that. Because here in Texas (and from where I travel) I always look at the billboards and I see advertisement for abortions, alcohol, doctors, schools, makeup, weightloss programs and etc. But what I don't see often is something about the Lord. With that said..I feel that one are two (not downsizing anything) signs of the Word wouldn't be a bad idea. Look at it this way...a person that never read the bible seeing the sign would actually be reading the bible(smile). Just a thought. But as for your idea...GREAT. I would love to see it. And you say that I motivated you...guess what...you inspired me. Thanks for sharing your story with us. I pray that it goes your way. God Bless...with a smile

Ryan,

I don't believe in coincidence. I'm more of a "cause and effect" person. But, I am amused, for sure. I have been asking God about finding "common ground" with people. He has such a sense of humor. It's amusing because it was you who planted the "common ground" seed in my spirit. LOL. God bless you.

Mexbias08 - Excellent point about billboards proclaiming the Word! Beyond that, I think you've already described that our lives should be personal billboards depicting the love of God.

As much as I despise the way signs mar God's creation, I guess I could not complain about one containing Bible verses. The billboards I had mentioned do not include scriptures, just a message proclaiming our city is God's city. Unfortunately, the intended message is easy to misconstrue and malign, given the words chosen to convey the concept.

Perhaps you'll consider a scriptrue billboard for your yard facing the nightclubs. Thanks for the encouragement!

Ryan
THANK YOU...I was actually trying to come up with a idea for my town and you just gave it to me. I can start with my yard...WOW...THANKS. This a way the ones I need to be reaching out to will/can be reached. Praise God. Also maybe you can whisper in the council's ear and suggest placing a scripture or two on his billboards. (smile)...just a thought...but don't forget of your own idea.
