Stop Playing Church....

How many of us go to church every Sunday? How many of us think this is enough? I get somewhat disturbed when I am leaving my house to go to church and see so many unsaved ones on my way there. It made me do alot of soul searching and heavy thinking...then when I get to church and I see the same people. We sit in church and claim to be so saved and holy...we mingle and shake each others hand and hug one another. Then we leave the house of the Lord and see the same unsave ones (and sometimes even more). Isn't it suppose to be our goal to reach the lost? Is it that what we are claiming to have we really don't? I just can't see Jesus passing so many unsave ones to go and sit with all the Holy ones....I just can't see it. So many of us play Christlike on Sunday and dance with the devil all the rest of the week. Funny....cause we as humans can be so self centered that we can't even be totally dedicated to the devil himself. LOL.. Think about it....we hang in ther tough with the devil until trials and tribulations enter our lives...then we scream"Lord Lord". And as soon as the Lord rescues us(because He always do) we go right back to what we were doing at first. So what gives us the right (if we are holy) to ignore the lost? Jesus died for the lost...and we ignore the lost. Let's stop playing church!!!!

"And he saith unto them, Follow me,
and I will make you fishers of men."
Matthew 4:19

"And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
Matthew 9:35-38

(Time is short. Let's pray and fish!)

Excellent! It is our responsibility to spread the word to the unsaved about our Savior. If each preson who is saved told one unsaved person a day about Jesus, We, like the original disciples, would turn the world upside down. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.

I am with you on that line of thinking. My problem is that I can't retain Bible versus and am not very outgoing. I know this sounds like an excuse and I do pray about it. I would say an answer for me would be to have more 'Salvation/witnessing' resources, like pamphlets, etc. and also a more experienced Christian with me. We would need to make it a weekly mission to go out and 'preach to the multitude'. This too weights heavy on my heart and I pray that the Lord will help me to get motivated and get out there. I pray the same for you.

The shortest verse in the Bible is one of the best scriptures to use for witnessing. Example:

Excuse me, sir. Do you know the shortest verse in the Bible?
Answer: yes.
The shortest verse in the Bible is "Jesus wept." Do you want to know why He wept?
Answer: No.
He wept because He left heaven and came to earth to destroy the work of the devil and bring restoration to people. But they didn't believe in Him. Do you believe in Him?

Petunia....I do not always retain Bible verses either, but I have gotten out of my comfort zone. I went on two mission trips January 2007 and February 2008 to the country of Haiti. I must say, I didn't expect to be so changed as when I did this with my church groups. I have witnessed to many people about the different things I experienced on those trips. The one thing that stands out in my mind the most is the joy on the faces of the poorest people I have ever met. They are poorer than the homeless who live here in the USA and yet, they are joyful in the Lord. They pray every morning early (like 5:00 AM ) before they go to work. Their church worship services can be hours longer than any we have experienced. They sing with wonderfully infectious voices (and not quietly, but boundingly loud ones). I felt humbled and ashamed for the least of us here in this USA. We don't even worship one-tenth of the way these wonderful Christians do in Haiti. They have nothing, absolutely nothing by our standards of living, and yet they have everything that is important. Love for and Faith in GOD. May God always bless them and those who come to know them. I use my witness to reach out to people for the Lord. Try going on a mission trip. It doesn't even have to be out of the country. Go to an inner city area. I dare everyone not to change and grow from it. That is one way of changing how you worship. If you can't be someone who goes, be a sender and then listen to those you send when they return. Repeat their stories for those you want to help save. I don't always remember scripture, but I do remember stories. That helps me when I am trying to reach out to someone who is not saved. God Bless everyone.

If you really want to remember Bible verses, pray for the Holy Spirit to come upon you. John 14:26 reads: "But when the Father sends the Counselor and by Counselor I mean the Holy Spirit. He will teach you everything and remind you of everything I myself have told you."

This is true. Jesus said it. I find that I remember the verse, just not always where it is. But if you know the words, you can find where they are.
