Free Will AndOr Pre-Destination

Hi, I was wondering about Free Will when praying for someone's Salvation.

God wants all to come to repentance, and for all of us to recognize his Son . . . . . can someone who has turned from the Lord . . . . become saved through another's prayers . . . . even if that person is not inclined to come to the Lord?

I am a new Christian, some Chrisitans believe in pre-destination, other's do not.

If I am praying for my family, husband or friends salvation, will God hear my pleas . . . . . are they stronger than that person's free will? Or are we pre-destined and God already knows who will come to him, and when?

I am confused?

The Word of God (Jesus) said, No man comes unless the Father draws him. We can and should pray that the Father draws the person to Him. That is our duty as His children. We are to help bring His will to pass. He is faithful and will arrange the conditions needed to draw the person to Him. It will be that individual's choice to receiive His invitation or not. Once the invitation is extended, we can and should encourage the person to accept. We are not to insist or "guilt" them into it. We must use the powerful spirit of love. Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord.

Not everyone is pre-destined to come. Romans 8:29 states "For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers."

Verse 30 goes on to say, "And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified."

From these verses we can see that there are some people called "those" who have been predestined, called, justified and glorified. Others are "drawn" to God. We should pray for the "drawing". It is up to the person to "come" when drawn. That is their free will to come or not.

Yes, being All-knowing, The Father is aware of who will come and who will not and when. I know He will "draw" when we pray. That is His will for us. We can pray for the drawing and encourage in love, but the choice is ultimately up to the one who receives the invitation.

I hope this makes sense to you.

Thank you, it seems the more me and the children hold up my husband in prayer, the more he is drawn into darkness.

We will continue praying, I have health problems and going for a series of surgeries . . . . and my husband is more and more attacted to walking in darkness, especially lying . . . telling lies to stay away from home, come home late, so that he can be with his single "friends" and do drugs, drink, spend money.

Our children pray fervently for him, and I admit, that after a decade, I am growing weary.

Your words make me want to continue, I am blessed by the people on this site, thank you.

Things are not always as they seem. Continue to pray and confess the Word of God out loud. Say what you desire to see. "My husband is saved and spirit-filled by the grace of God." "I thank God my husband is the spiritual leader of our home." "Praise God my husband washes me in the Word of God." "My husband loves me as Christ loves the Church."
Be sure that your words line up with God's Word. I even tell my husband, "You are the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus."

God is faithful. He is drawing your husband. We don't know how long it will take, but trust God.
